At Kidfinity Pediatrics, we understand the challenges of caring for a newborn and provide gentle care. If you're pregnant and looking for a pediatrician, or if you need to schedule a newborn visit, please call our office. We'd be happy to introduce you to our team and assist you in scheduling your newborn's first visit.
Newborn first visits are typically scheduled in the morning, usually 1 or 2 days after discharge from the hospital. We recommend calling us as soon as you know your discharge plans to schedule this important first visit.
During the newborn care visit, our pediatrician performs required newborn screening tests in the office, eliminating the need for a separate trip to the hospital. This comprehensive exam includes checking your baby's weight, length, and head circumference, evaluating feeding, bowel, and sleeping habits, performing a physical examination, including an eye exam, and conducting a developmental evaluation. These visits also provide parents with an opportunity to ask questions and address any concerns they may have about their baby's health and well-being.
Following the newborn care visit, well-child visits are scheduled according to a specific schedule. After the two-week visit, your newborn should see the pediatrician at one and two months of age. During these visits, the pediatrician evaluates growth, developmental milestones, and behaviors, and administers routine immunizations to protect your baby from contagious diseases such as polio, hepatitis B, RSV, rotavirus, diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae, and pneumococcus.
Immunizations are repeated several times over the first 18 months to ensure your infant is fully protected. Well-child visits provide opportunities for parents to discuss baby care and address any health or safety concerns with the pediatrician.

Regular physicals are indeed a crucial component of preventive pediatric care. Sports physicals, specifically, provide an opportunity for the doctor to thoroughly examine your child, assess their overall health and fitness, and determine whether they are adequately prepared for sports or other school activities.
During a sports physical, the doctor evaluates various aspects of your child's health, including their medical history, current health status, and any potential risk factors for participation in sports. They may also assess their physical fitness level, check for any underlying medical conditions or injuries that could affect their ability to participate safely, and provide recommendations for injury prevention and performance enhancement.
By conducting sports physicals, we aim to ensure that your child can engage in sports and physical activities safely and effectively, promoting their overall health and well-being while minimizing the risk of injury or illness. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's participation in sports or the need for a sports physical, please don't hesitate to contact our office. We're here to support you and your child in achieving their health and fitness goals.
