At this age, many babies may seem more fussy or colicky. It's essential to remain patient as colicky babies typically outgrow this phase. Your baby's safety is paramount, so even in moments of frustration, handle your baby gently. Don't hesitate to reach out to friends, relatives, or your pediatrician if the crying becomes overwhelming. If you find yourself needing a break and no one is available to assist you, it's okay to place your baby gently on their back in a safe space, like a crib or bassinet, and take a few moments to compose yourself.

We do a lot at this visit, including:

    • Measure your baby’s weight, length and head size and record on a growth curve.
    • Provide your baby’s first set of immunizations. Immunizations are safe, effective and keep your child and our community healthy. During this visit, you will be able to discuss any questions you may have about immunizations.

As your baby becomes more mobile, they'll start to move around and may even be able to sit up independently for short periods. Your baby may be entering the exciting phase of crawling, pulling up to stand, and cruising along furniture. During this stage, babies are naturally curious and eager to explore their surroundings, touching everything in their path as they learn about the world around them. It's important to embrace the messiness of this developmental period and approach it with patience and a sense of enjoyment.

    At this visit we will:

    • Measure your baby’s weight, length and head size and record on a growth curve.
    • Discuss your baby's upcoming dental care. Your baby should see a dentist at 1 year of age. You should be brushing your child's teeth with an infant toothbrush and a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste.

At this stage, your baby can transition from breast milk or formula to cow’s milk if you prefer. However, continuing with breast milk is perfectly healthy if that's your choice. Most babies now require three meals and 2-3 snacks per day, along with no more than 16-20 ounces of whole cow's milk. As your baby explores solid foods, they can enjoy many of the same foods you eat, but remember to avoid small, hard foods that could pose a choking hazard.

Now is the ideal time to wean your child from the bottle and introduce all liquids in a sippy cup. Making this transition now is much easier than waiting until your child is older, reducing the risk of cavities and potential struggles.

As your baby grows, they'll soon outgrow the infant carrier car seat. Continue to use a rear-facing car seat until they reach age 2, ensuring their safety during travel.

Your child should have a well child visit at the intervals listed below. We recommend that you call our office three months in advance to schedule an appointment with your child's primary care provider on the date that best fits your needs.

Occasionally, your child will be ill at a well visit or an unexpected significant finding outside the scope of routine medical care will be uncovered. In these instances, a second modified care charge will be added to the visit.
